merry-go-rounds

Circular playground spinners

Merry-go-rounds are rotating amusement rides with seats—often wooden horses or other animals—that riders mount while the platform spins and music plays.

The term extends to any repetitive cycle that seems to go nowhere: the merry-go-round of endless meetings.

Also called a carousel.

In British English, a merry-go-round can also be a traffic roundabout.
