holding on
Refusing to release
Holding on is maintaining a grip, whether physical or emotional.
You hold on to a railing to keep from falling, or hold on to hope when circumstances look bleak.
It can mean waiting: Hold on, I'll be right back.
To hold on is also to endure or persist through difficulty: She's holding on despite everything.
