Amritsar

Sikh holy city

Amritsar is a city in the Punjab region of northwestern India, sacred to Sikhs as the site of the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib), their holiest shrine.

The city is also remembered for the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre, when British troops fired on unarmed civilians.

We visited Amritsar during our trip through India.
