mail coach
Letter delivery wagon
A mail coach was a horse-drawn stagecoach that carried postal mail along established routes, common in Britain and America from the late 18th through mid-19th centuries.
Mail coaches also transported passengers and operated on fixed schedules, making them more reliable than ordinary stagecoaches: The mail coach arrived at the inn precisely at noon.
Railroads eventually replaced them.
