lumberers

Forest timber workers

Lumberers are people who cut down trees and prepare timber for transport—loggers or woodcutters.

The term is less common than lumberjacks in American English but appears in historical and regional contexts: The lumberers worked through the winter months, felling trees and hauling logs to the river.
