peavey
Log-rolling tool
A peavey is a logging tool with a wooden handle, a metal spike at the end, and a hinged hook for gripping and rolling logs.
Similar to a cant hook but with the addition of the pointed spike, it was essential equipment for loggers working river drives: He used the peavey to free the jammed timber.
Named after its inventor, Maine blacksmith Joseph Peavey. (Capitalized Peavey is the amplifier brand.)
