leafstalks
Leaf-to-branch connectors
Leafstalks is the plural of leafstalk, the slender stem that attaches a leaf blade to a plant's branch or main stem.
Botanists call this structure a petiole.
Some leafstalks are edible—celery and rhubarb are essentially harvested leafstalks: The rhubarb leafstalks were ready for picking, but we left the toxic leaves behind.
