kumiss
Fermented mare's drink
Kumiss is a fermented drink made from mare's milk, traditional among Central Asian nomadic peoples.
The fermentation produces a mildly alcoholic, slightly sour beverage with a thin, fizzy texture.
Also spelled koumiss or kumys.
The Mongolian herders offered us kumiss from a leather pouch.
