king's man
Devoted royal subject
A king's man is someone loyal to or serving the king, particularly a royalist during periods of civil conflict.
The term appears most often in historical contexts—English Civil War royalists versus Parliamentarians, or American colonists loyal to George III.
The king's men searched the village for rebels.
A king's man may also be a royal soldier or agent acting on crown authority.
