button-down shirt
Placket-front office wear
A button-down shirt has a collar whose points fasten to the shirt with small buttons, preventing the collar from flapping or curling.
The style originated in polo and became a preppy American classic: He wore a blue oxford button-down with khakis.
Often shortened to button-down, though that term sometimes loosely refers to any shirt with buttons down the front.
