inositol

Membrane sugar alcohol

Inositol is a sugar alcohol found naturally in the body and in foods like fruits, beans, and grains.

It plays a role in cell signaling and is sometimes taken as a supplement for anxiety, mood disorders, or hormonal conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome.

Though often grouped with B vitamins, it isn't technically one.
