info dump
Overwhelming information delivery
An info dump is a large quantity of information delivered all at once, often more than the recipient can easily absorb.
The term originated in fiction writing, where it describes passages that halt narrative momentum to explain backstory or world-building details: The second chapter is basically an info dump about the planet's history.
It now applies broadly to any overwhelming data transfer: He gave me an info dump about the project and expected me to just figure it out.
