hypnotization
Inducing a trance
Hypnotization is the act or process of inducing a hypnotic state in someone.
The word appears in both clinical and casual contexts: The hypnotization took only a few minutes before she was fully under.
It can also describe the resulting state of being hypnotized, or figuratively, any experience of being captivated or entranced: His hypnotization by the flickering screen worried his parents.
