hypnotizing
Capturing attention completely
Hypnotizing is inducing a trance-like state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility.
A hypnotist may use rhythmic speech, repetitive gestures, or fixed visual points: The therapist was hypnotizing patients to help them quit smoking.
Figuratively, anything captivating or mesmerizing can be hypnotizing: The flickering flames were hypnotizing.
