highjacker

Takes aircraft hostage

A highjacker is someone who seizes control of a vehicle—especially an aircraft—by force or threat: The highjackers demanded the plane be flown to Cuba.

The spelling with the "gh" is less common than hijacker but appears in older texts and some legal documents.

The term extends to anyone who takes over something by force: corporate highjackers, brand highjackers.
