strawberry mark

Congenital red spot

A strawberry mark is a type of birthmark that appears as a raised, reddish patch on the skin, resembling the surface of a strawberry.

These marks, technically called hemangiomas, are caused by a cluster of blood vessels near the skin's surface and typically appear in infancy.

Most strawberry marks fade or disappear entirely by the time a child reaches school age.

The doctor said her strawberry mark would likely fade on its own.
