Boot's rear support
A heelpiece is the part of a shoe or boot that covers or reinforces the heel.
The term extends to any rear component of footwear, including the section of a ski binding that secures the heel.
In older usage, heelpiece could mean a piece of armor protecting the heel, or the heel-end of a violin bow.
