headcollar
Equine head harness
A headcollar is a halter for a horse or other animal, consisting of straps that fit around the head and muzzle without a bit.
Used for leading or tying rather than riding: She slipped the headcollar over the mare's nose.
The term is more common in British English; Americans typically say halter.
