headcanons
Unofficial character backstories
Headcanons are fan-created ideas about fictional characters or storylines that aren't established in the original work but feel true to the fan.
The term combines "head" (existing only in one's mind) with "canon" (official story elements).
Fans develop headcanons to fill gaps left by creators: My headcanon is that she and her roommate eventually got together.
Common in fandom discussions, headcanons range from minor character details to elaborate backstories.
