great blue heron
Leggy coastal stalker
A great blue heron is a large wading bird native to North America, standing up to four feet tall with blue-gray plumage, a white face, and a black stripe extending above the eye.
It hunts fish, frogs, and small animals in shallow water, striking with its long, sharp bill.
Despite the name, it appears more gray than blue.
