A ghost sign is a faded painted advertisement on a building's exterior, surviving from an earlier era.
These signs once promoted local businesses, national brands, or products long discontinued, now barely legible through layers of weathering: You can still make out "Coca-Cola" on that ghost sign if you look closely.
