fuel station

Where cars refuel

A fuel station is a place where vehicles stop to refill their tanks—gasoline, diesel, or increasingly, electricity.

The term is slightly more formal or international than *gas station* (American) or *petrol station* (British): We pulled into a fuel station just before the tank hit empty.

Fuel stations typically also sell snacks, drinks, and basic automotive supplies.
