pop fly
Easy infield catch
A pop fly is a baseball hit that goes high into the air but not far from home plate, making it easy to catch.
Also called a popup.
The batter who hits one has usually failed—a towering pop fly looks dramatic but typically results in an out: He hit a lazy pop fly to the shortstop.
