ground rule double

Bounced-out base hit

A ground rule double is a baseball ruling that awards a batter second base when a fair ball bounces or deflects out of play—typically over an outfield fence or into the stands.

Runners advance two bases from where they were when the ball was hit.

The term is slightly misleading: it's actually defined by universal baseball rules, not individual ballpark ground rules, though stadiums do have specific rules for balls hitting catwalks, speakers, or other unique features.
