forequarter
Animal's forward portion
A forequarter is the front portion of a butchered animal carcass, typically including the shoulder, foreleg, and adjacent ribs.
Beef and lamb are commonly divided into forequarters and hindquarters for processing and sale.
The term also applies to the corresponding anatomy in living animals: The horse's forequarter showed signs of muscle strain.
