metacarpus

Bones between wrist

The metacarpus is the part of the hand between the wrist and fingers, consisting of five bones that form the palm.

Each metacarpal connects a carpal (wrist bone) to a finger's phalanges.

The term applies to the corresponding structure in other vertebrates—the forelimb section between wrist and digits.
