flight decks
Ship-top landing strips
Flight decks are the operational surfaces where aircraft activity happens.
On an aircraft carrier, the flight deck is the flat top where planes take off and land.
In an airplane, the flight deck is the cockpit—the area at the front where pilots sit at the controls: Passengers are not permitted on the flight deck during flight.
