air wing
Military aviation unit
An air wing is a major organizational unit of military aviation, typically consisting of several squadrons under a single command.
In the U.S.
Navy, a carrier air wing comprises the aircraft and personnel assigned to an aircraft carrier, while the Air Force uses the term wing more broadly for its primary combat units.
The carrier air wing conducted flight operations throughout the deployment.
