flattops
Crew cuts' cousins
Flattops are aircraft carriers, named for their flat flight decks.
The word also refers to a style of haircut where the hair is cut short on the sides and back but left longer on top, trimmed to create a flat, level surface: He's worn a flattop since his Marine Corps days.
Less commonly, a flattop is any flat-topped surface or structure.
