far left
Beyond mere liberal
The far left refers to political positions at the extreme end of the left-wing spectrum, typically advocating radical redistribution of wealth, abolition of capitalism, or revolutionary social change.
The term covers communists, anarchists, and others who view mainstream liberal or progressive politics as insufficiently transformative.
Critics use it loosely to characterize any strongly left-leaning position: The candidate dismissed her opponent's platform as far left.
