facial nerve
Expression muscle controller
The facial nerve is the seventh cranial nerve, controlling the muscles of facial expression and carrying taste sensations from the front of the tongue.
Damage to the facial nerve causes facial paralysis, as in Bell's palsy, where one side of the face droops.
The nerve also controls tear and saliva production.
