experimental film
Avant-garde motion picture
Experimental film is cinema that rejects conventional narrative structure, technique, or purpose in favor of artistic exploration.
Such films may abandon plot entirely, manipulate time and image, or treat the medium itself as subject matter.
The category spans avant-garde, underground, and art films that prioritize formal innovation over commercial appeal: The festival's experimental film program featured works without dialogue or recognizable story.
