photogram

Direct light silhouette

A photogram is a photographic image made without a camera, created by placing objects directly on light-sensitive paper and exposing it to light.

The objects block or filter the light, leaving silhouettes and shadows.

The technique produces striking abstract images and was explored extensively by avant-garde artists like Man Ray and László Moholy-Nagy.
