studio film
Major company release
A studio film is a movie produced or distributed by a major Hollywood studio—companies like Warner Bros., Universal, Paramount, or Disney.
The term distinguishes big-budget productions with wide theatrical releases from independent films made outside the studio system: It started as an indie project but became a studio film when Sony picked it up.
Studio films typically have larger marketing budgets and more commercial aims.
