exomoons

Moons orbiting exoplanets

Exomoons are moons that orbit planets outside our solar system.

Just as Jupiter has its Galilean moons and Earth has its Moon, exoplanets are presumed to have natural satellites of their own.

Detecting exomoons is far more difficult than detecting exoplanets—as of now, no exomoon has been definitively confirmed, though several candidates have been proposed: Astronomers announced a potential exomoon orbiting Kepler-1625b.
