escudos
Pre-euro Lisbon money
Escudos is the plural of escudo, a unit of currency used historically in Portugal and Spain, and still current in Cape Verde.
The word comes from the same root as "escutcheon"—a shield—reflecting the coat of arms typically stamped on such coins.
The meal cost about two thousand escudos.
