entry wound
Where projectile penetrated
An entry wound is where a projectile—typically a bullet—enters the body.
In forensic contexts, entry wounds are distinguished from exit wounds by their characteristics: entry wounds tend to be smaller and more regular, while exit wounds are larger and more ragged.
The medical examiner noted a single entry wound to the chest.
