blast injuries
Bomb trauma damage
Blast injuries are physical trauma caused by explosions.
The term covers damage from the pressure wave itself (primary), from flying debris (secondary), from being thrown against objects (tertiary), and from burns, inhalation, or crush injuries (quaternary).
Military medicine and emergency responders distinguish these categories because each requires different treatment: The soldier suffered blast injuries to his lungs and eardrums.
