electrotyped

Galvanically reproduced printing

Electrotyped describes something reproduced through electrotyping—a printing process where a mold is coated with metal through electrolysis to create a durable duplicate plate.

The technique allowed printers to preserve typeset pages for reprinting without keeping the original type locked up: The book was electrotyped in 1892 and reprinted for decades.
