electrocautery
Electrical tissue searing
Electrocautery is a medical procedure that uses an electrically heated instrument to burn tissue, either to stop bleeding or to remove unwanted tissue such as warts or tumors.
The device itself is also called an electrocautery.
Unlike electrosurgery, which passes current through the patient's body, electrocautery heats only the tip of the instrument, making it useful when electrical current through tissue would be problematic.
