devitalization
Draining of energy
Devitalization is the process of draining vitality or life force from something.
In dentistry, it refers specifically to killing a tooth's nerve, usually before root canal treatment.
More broadly, anything that saps energy or renders something lifeless undergoes devitalization: The endless meetings led to the devitalization of the whole department.
