late talker
Slow to speak
A late talker is a young child who begins speaking later than typical developmental milestones suggest—usually a toddler with limited vocabulary by age two.
The term is used by parents and pediatricians to describe delayed speech without implying a specific disorder: Einstein was a late talker.
Many late talkers catch up without intervention.
