dry stone
Stacked without cement
Dry stone describes a method of building walls or structures without mortar, relying instead on the careful fitting of stones against one another: dry stone walls crisscross the Yorkshire moors.
The technique dates back millennia and remains common in rural Britain and Ireland, where such walls mark field boundaries.
Also written as one word or hyphenated: drystone, dry-stone.
