drunken noodles
Spicy Thai stir-fry
Drunken noodles is a Thai stir-fry dish of wide rice noodles with basil, vegetables, and meat or seafood in a savory sauce.
The Thai name *pad kee mao* translates literally as "drunkard's stir-fry," possibly because the dish is considered good hangover food or pairs well with alcohol.
Despite the name, no alcohol appears in the recipe: I ordered drunken noodles with extra Thai basil.
