driveshafts

Rotating power conduits

Driveshafts are rotating mechanical shafts that transmit torque from an engine to the wheels or other driven components.

In rear-wheel-drive vehicles, the driveshaft runs from the transmission to the rear axle: The mechanic said the vibration was coming from a worn driveshaft.

Industrial machinery uses driveshafts to transfer power between disconnected assemblies.
