dramatisation

Story made theatrical

Dramatisation is the British spelling of dramatization—the act of adapting something for dramatic presentation, or the result of that adaptation: The BBC's dramatisation of the novel won critical acclaim.

It also describes making something seem more dramatic or exciting than it is: His account was pure dramatisation.
