drainage network
Runoff collection system
A drainage network is the system of channels, streams, and rivers that collect and carry water across a landscape.
In geography, it describes how waterways connect and flow into each other, ultimately reaching a larger body of water: The drainage network of the Amazon basin covers much of South America.
The term also applies to engineered systems of pipes and ditches that remove water from roads, fields, or buildings.
