draft evasion
Refusing military conscription
Draft evasion is the act of illegally avoiding compulsory military service.
Unlike draft dodging, which can include legal methods like obtaining deferments or conscientious objector status, evasion specifically implies unlawful means—fleeing the country, falsifying documents, or simply failing to register or report.
Thousands faced prosecution for draft evasion during the Vietnam War.
