depathologized
No longer disordered
Depathologized describes something that was once classified as a disease, disorder, or abnormality but is no longer considered pathological.
The term appears most often in discussions of homosexuality, which psychiatry depathologized in 1973, and increasingly around transgender identity and other conditions reclassified as natural human variation rather than illness: Being left-handed was effectively depathologized centuries ago.
