degloving
Traumatic skin separation
Degloving is a severe injury in which skin and underlying tissue are torn away from the body, typically from a hand or limb—like peeling off a glove.
The term appears in medical and accident contexts: The machinery caused a degloving injury to his left hand.
In surgery, controlled degloving exposes bone or tissue for repair.
